Corymorpha januarii is one of the largest species of solitary corymorphid hydroids, varying in color from white to deep purple. Several polyps of C. januarii were recently collected during winter in southern Brazil, the only records of the species since its original description. Medusae of C. januarii lack tentacles and attain sexual maturity while still attached to the polyp. Gametes are discharged either shortly before or soon after medusae are released figs 1-4, tabs 1-2. (30.xi.1992).
