Eleven species of Perinereis, are found on Ratnagiri coast, India of which P. nigropunctata ratnagiriensis is new to science and P. vancaurica tetradentata lmajima and P. cultrifera striolata Grube are new addition to the nereid fauna of India. P. nigropunctata Horst is common and number of paragnaths varies in the specimen mainly collected from the rock covered with oyster beds. The Perinereis sp. are associated with variety of fauna and flora such as Gastropods. Crustaceans, Echinoderms, Sipunculids, Polychaetous annelids and marine algae.
