Nomenclature According to the synonymy of Acropora florida (Dana, 1846) given by Wallace (1999: p. 250), the name Madrepora ornata Brook, 1891, is a junior homonym of Madrepora ornata DeFrance, 1828. Brook (1893) gave the species a new name (nomen novum), Madrepora affinis Brook, 1893, as replacement. Madrepora affinis is now considered a junior synonym of Acropora florida (Dana, 1846). [details]
