Taxonomic remark The nomenclatural subordination between the subfamily names Sphaerostomatinae and Plagioporinae requires additional clarification. According to Martin et al. (2019), the name Sphaerostomatinae should be considered as a nomen oblitum in accordance with the provision of Article 35.5 of the Fourth Edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999). However, in fact, the procedure for fixing the nomen oblitum is described in Article 23.9.2 of the same Code, but none of its provisions were implemented by Martin et al. (2019). Therefore, the interpretation proposed by these authors of the Sphaerostomatinae as a nomen oblitum is not protected by Article 23.10 of the Code and can be revised by subsequent authors without recourse to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. Considering the above, we propose to rename the Plagioporinae to the Sphaerostomatinae. [details]
