A species of Strombidinopsis from the Daya Bay is studied morphologically with the protargol-impregnated specimens. There are significant differences between this ciliate and other similar species of the genus. So the ciliate can be considered as a new species, named Strombidinopsis grandis sp. nov. Strombidinopsis grandis Xu sp. nov. The cell is rhomboid in shape, with 2 kidney-shaped macronuclei. The length and widh of fixed cell are 172.58+-46.31mum and 62.81+-25.53mum respecitively. The somatic kinetids are dikinetid and 31.83+-2.36 in number. EPK are 15-17 in number. Types: ZSU9704015-1. Deposited in School of Life Science, Zhongshan University.
