Two newspeciesofthegenus Laophontodes T. Scottaredescribedhere, Laophontodes horstgeorgei sp. nov. fromthelittoralzoneofasandybeachonVitiLevu(FijiIslands)and Laophontodes sabinegeorgeae sp. nov. fromdifferentdepthsonthePatagoniancontinentalslope(MagellanRegion,Chile).Furthermore, Laophontodes bicornis A. Scottand Laophontodes whitsoni T. Scottarebothredescribedindetail,toprovide further inequivocalmorphologicaldatainpreparationofafutureextensivephylogeneticanalysisofthe subfamily Laophontodinae.Asadetailedphylogeneticevaluationof Laophontodes is stillpending,the allocation ofthenewlydescribedspeciesismadetentatively,basingontheinformationsofaravailable. Nonetheless, firstsystematicremarksonthephylogenyof Laophontodes are provided.
