Diagnosis Test elongate, narrow, compressed, chambers broad, low, and enlarging rapidly, early stage biserial, later chambers much higher, then cuneate and finally uniserial and appearing rhomboid, chambers produced laterally near their base into a short spine, sutures depressed; wall calcareous, distinctly perforate, thin, translucent, surface smooth, laterally carinate; aperture an elongate terminal slit in the adult, with distinct bordering lip and a prominent internal siphonlike toothplate visible through the hyaline wall. Pliocene to Holocene; Pacific, off Mexico; off California; Japan. (Loeblich & Tappan, 1987, Foraminiferal Genera and Their Classification) [details]
