Type material In Topsent's discussion of the beta variety of Lamarck's Alcyonium papillosum he mentioned a specimen from Ambon labeled by Lucas (subsequent to Lamarck's own label) als var. beta of A. papillosum, but this turned out to be a Hyattella, clearly different from the true var. beta which is a Phoriospongia.
