Type species Type species of *Phellia* by subsequent designation (Stephenson, 1920). Stephenson (1929) recognized *P. murocincta* as type species, but, because he concluded the species belongs in *Sagartia*, he designated *P. gausapata* Gosse, 1858, as type species of *Phellia*, with which Carlgren (1949) and Fautin et al. (2007) erroneouosly agreed. [details]
