Validity Possibly a synonym of Cheiraster (Luidiaster) planeta (Sladen, 1889) according to A.M. Clark (1981). Although as Cheiraster robustus is apparently a secondary homonym of Pontaster venustus var. robusta Sladen, 1889. However, Sladen's robusta was synonymized with Cheiraster (Cheiraster) sepitus at the same time as Pectinaster robustus was transferred to Cheiraster (Luidiaster) and the two were not contemporaneously regarded as congeneric.
