Taxonomy This combination is used by Lévi (1960) for a sponge in the Strasbourg Museum, bearing a label in Schmidt's handwriting 'Clathria vicina'. This was first mentioned in Topsent(1920). Since he provided no further data the name was a nomen nudum. Subsequently, Lévi (1960) provided some spicule measurements, and if this would be considered sufficient descriptive information, the name should be attributed to Lévi, 1960 rather than to Topsent, 1920. Since this is in all probabllity a specimen of Antho (Antho) morisca, the status of vicina is moot. [details]
