Synonymy The species (which was misspelled in the main text as corlosia, but corrected in the Errata) was described by Duchassaing & Michelotti from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, approximate coordinates 18.37°N 64.9°W. No material has survived (Van Soest et al. 1983: 203, table I). I propose to reassign it provisionally to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814 as the most likely identity based on Hyatt’s and Von Lendenfeld’s treatment of Spongia corlosia>/i> (sic).
