Taxonomic remark Magasella adamsi Davidson was ascribed to Coptothyris grayi by Thomson (1927, p. 268), i.e., synonymized. Allan (1947) notes that Terebratula grayii Davidson, 1852 is the genotype of Coptothyris, but concludes that the name is unavailable due to Davidson earlier using the name 'grayii' for a Silurian brachiopod Terebratula grayii Davidson, 1848, and thus Coptothyris adamsi should be the genotype over grayii. This change has not been accepted by later authors (e.g., BrachNet). [details]
