Editor's comment The four type slides of Aricidea nolani are held in the United States National Museum (USNM 29026) and were re-examined by Dr. M.H. Pettibone (personal communication in Hartley, 1981), who found them to consist of anterior fragments of three specimens and appear to be a mixture of two species. The posterior segments are not present on the slides and were not described by Webster & Benedict (1887). In the opinion of Dr. Pettibone A. nolani should be considered to be an indeterminable species of Aricidea, and that opinion was followed by Hartley (1981). With base on this, all the records of the species should be revised. [details]
