This species appears unlike P. femorata Kr., 1842, from E. Greenland (as fig-ured by Sars, 1895). The dorsal abdominal "hump" of this W. Pacific species appears more broadly conical and tipped by two subequal spines, rather than two unequal teeth; the eye is relatively small and subovate; and the anterior
lobe of coxa 5 appears to be less deep than in P. femorata Kr. sens. str.
