Validity Described by Czerniavsky from Novorossysk, Russia, approximate coordinates 44.68°N 37.82°E, depth 10 m, (syntypes ZIN-RAS 11425, label text differs somewhat from the published name). Van Soest, 2024: 41) proposed to assign the specimens to the species Haliclona foraminosa (Czerniavsky, 1880). This is a four-name taxon, which is unavailable (ICZN art. 45.5). If it would have been available, it would have been a senior primary homonym of Protoschmidtia foraminosa f.aurantiaca subf.nomada, but unavailable names do not enter into homonymy (ICZN art. 54.1).
