Type locality Syntypes from several different localities, mainly at Spitsbergen, but also south Greenland and Norway: a) northern and eastern coasts of Spitsbergen (Arctic Ocean and Barents Sea): Treurenbergbay (= Sorgfjorden; gazetteer estimate 79.933°, 16.833°), Wahlenbergsbay (= Wahlenbergfjorden; gazetteer estimate 79.695°, 20.165°), Waygats Islands (= Vaigattøyane; gazetteer estimate 79.315°, 19.875°), Wydebay (= Wijdefjorden; gazetteer estimate 79.048°, 16.191°); b) western coast of Spitsbergen (Greenland Sea): Bellsund (= Bellsundet; gazetteer estimate 77.65°, 14.35°), Crossbay (= Krossfjorden; gazetteer estimate 79.185°, 11.775°), Kingsbay (= Kongsfjorden; gazetteer estimate 78.98°, 11.88°), Safehavn (= Trygghamma; gazetteer estimate 78.258°, 13.764°); c) Troms (Norway): Tromsö (gazetteer estimate 69.651°, 18.965°); d) Southern Greenland: Julianehaab (= Qaqortoq; gazetteer estimate 60.717°, -46.036°). [details]Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Malmgren (1866: 390-391): "Corpus teres elongato-subfusiforme, medio inflato, utrinque attenuatum, postice magis quam antice, segmentis c. 45 — 55 plerumque biannulatis, interdum subtri- vel quatuorannulatis. Tentacula sat longa, dimidio corporis stepe longiora, numerosissima longitudinaliter canaliculata linearia. Verruca minuta rotundata alba, medio papilla minutissima, juxta 10 vel 12 antica tubercula setigera, intus totidem paria organorum segmentalium respondentia. Fasciculos setarum sat minutos saepe usque ad 22 numeravi, interdum tantum 19 vel 20 inveni. Tori uncinigeri nulli. Uncini a segmento tredecimo setigero incipientes, rninutissimi aegre visibiles uniseriales in cute inserti. Color animalis viventis albus, in spiritu asservati albicans, interdum paulo flavicans. Longit. 35 — 60 m.m.; latit. 4 — 5 m.m. medii corporis inflati." [details]
