Nomenclature Described by Czerniavsky from the Sinus Novorossijsk, Black Sea coast of Russia, approximate coordinates 44.68°N 37.82°E, (syntypes ZIN-RAS 11420, coll. Czerniavsky 1870/IV). Van Soest (2024: 46) proposed the variety similis as the nominotypical variety, which means that the name should be changed to the present S.i. var. intermedia Czerniavsky, 1880. Van Soest (2024: 46) proposed to merge all varieties of S. intermedia under the species combination Petrosia (Petrosia) intermedia (Czerniavsky, 1880). [details]
