Taxonomy There is no clear indication in Linnaeus as to where this name came from, other than that it is a conical tube from the Netherlands (= belgica) littoral. It may be a subsequent usage of the pectinariid 'belgica' authored by Pallas in genus Nereis, but this is conjecture only. Hartman catalogue perhaps thus referred it to Pectinariidae, and to Cistenides belgica. However, the name was not included in the applications and comments prior to ICZN Opinion on Pectinaria belgica. It is treated here as a nomen dubium [details]
