Status The species is described as having 4 anterior and 2 posterior chaetae per bundle and based upon the higher number and different shape of the ventral chaetae, Boteo (1983) justified it as a new species and different from L. variegatus. He also writes that it lives marine interstitial, unlike L. variegatus. However, Lumbriculidae are not known in having 4 chaetae per bundle (only 2). so it is unlikely that this species is a Lumbriculidae and closer to Tubificidae (e.g. Clitellio). For now, the editor regards L. caribensis as a taxon inquirendum [details]
