Etymology authors: the "name carnosus translates as “fleshy” in Latin and is representative of the general shape of the specimen." However, the ending of the adjective carnosus -a -um is required to be in agreement with the gender of the genus, in this case feminine, and correction of an incorrect suffix is mandatory. Spelling Pectinaria carnosa is the correct name for mandatory gender agreement with feminine genus Pectinaria. The masculine form 'carnosus' is incorrect. [details]
