Classification Chamberlin (1919: 409) introduced Sonatsinae for his new genus Sonatsa. It was stated to be diagnosed with a dorsal anus (like Maldane & Asychis of Maldaninae) but with uncini on some somites in two or three rows. However, Green (1987) found that Chamberlin had not observed accurately. The subfamily is unneeded. Earlier Arwidsson (1922) had similarly concluded Sonatsa & Sonatsinae were not required [details]
