Status Currently Lysibranchia is nomen dubium because it was described based on a juvenile. Cinar (2005) suggested that the type of Lysibranchia paucibranchiata is a juvenile of Marphysa bellii (Audouin & Milne Edwards, 1833). If this is confirmed, this would automatically make Lysibranchia a senior synonym to a subsequent genus, Paucibranchia Molina-Acevedo, 2018, containing Eunice bellii Audouin & Milne Edwards (= Marphysa bellii) as its type species. Until the identity of the holotype of L. paucibranchiata has been re-examined further in a publication the existing statuses of Lysibranchia and Paucibranchia are retained. [details]

Additional information Absence/presence of branchiae is not currently considered a valid diagnostic character at genera level of Eunicidae (Fauchald, 1992). [details]Status Currently Lysibranchia is nomen dubium because it was described based on a juvenile.
