Status Type material could not be found in the NHMD or the Naturhistorika Riksmuseet (Swedish Museum of Natural History), Stockholm, Sweden and is considered lost. No precise type locality is given, just the Atlantic. Vinogradov et al. (1982, 1996) list it as a synonym of B. rapax but the description provided by Bovallius (1887a) is so inadequate that the species cannot be determined and there are no figures. Thus, this species should be considered a nomen dubium [details]
