Etymology Authors: Treadwellphysa is named "after Aaron Louis Treadwell in recognition for his contributions to the knowledge of the eunicids from the Grand Caribbean region. The genus is named by combining his last name adding "physa" as terminal, because most of the species in this new genus were previously described as Marphysa." Gender feminine. [Editor note: Greek 'physa', is a feminine noun meaning bladder or bubble, but the derivation pathway by Quatrefages to the compound word 'Marphysa' is not known]. [details]
