Validity Text transcribed from Mayer (1910, page 684) part of the description of the genus Phyllorhiza:
Phyllorhiza chinensis L. Agassiz and P. trifolium Haeckel are too imperfectly described to be recognizable, and P. punctata von Lendenfeld, from Australia, is the type species and the only adequatey determined form.
Phyllorhiza chinensis is probably Cephea cephea, and P. trifolium is, according to Haeckel, described from a preserved and mutilated specimen.  [details]

Validity The species Phyllorhiza chinensis L. Agassiz, 1862 (from China Seas) and Phyllorhiza trifolium Haeckel, 1880 (from Japan Sea) were imperfectly described as stated by Mayer (1910). Therefore, until further investigations on specimens from those areas are done, they cannot be considered as valid species. We here consider three valid species. [details]
