The halichondriid sponge Hymeniacidon flavia Sim and Lee, 2003 is redescribed on the material from the eastern coast of Osaka Bay with the new Japanese name of Kiiro-isokaimen. Originally described from the Republic of Korea, this species of sponge has been recorded from Japan including the western coast of Osaka Bay. In the field, Hymeniacodon flavia is very similar to the yellow color form of the polychromic Halichondria panicea in color. However, the form of the spicules, the height of osculer processes and the size and the arrangement of oscules are completely different from each other.
