Taxonomy The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has re-established the precedence of Megaperidae Manter, 1934 over Apocreadiinae Skrjabin, 1942 for certain digenean trematodes of fish by suspending the application of Article 35.5 of the Code. [details]

Validity Valid, even though the Megaperidae predates it, following Article 35.5 of the ICZN, which applies to changes subsequent to 1999. However, see ICZN Opinion 2483.
Article 35.5. Precedence for names in use at higher rank. If after 1999 a name in use for a family-group taxon (e.g. for a subfamily) is found to be older than a name in prevailing usage for a taxon at higher rank in the same family-group taxon (e.g. for the family within which the older name is the name of a subfamily) the older name is not to displace the younger name.
Consequently, the change made by Blend et al. (2017) was not followed. [details]
