Editor's comment The species Diastopora latomarginata was originally described from the northwest Atlantic (Newfoundland). Subsequent records from many Cainozoic (and Cretaceous) samples from Europe have made the systematic placement problematic. The genus Diastopora is now considered as unrecognisable. This genus has been used for encrusting cyclostomes without gonozooids. [details]
