Pseudoporcellanella manoliensis
Description Location: Hantu Island, SingaporeDate: February 3, 2024, 8:23 a.m.
The benthic substrate around Pulau Hantu (translated as ‘Ghost Island’ in Malay) consists of a mix of silty-sand with fine sediments, coral rubble, submerged boulders and coarse detritus, with the high sediment load contributing to persistently low underwater visibility (typically <5m).
Localised patches of consolidated coral are present, often encrusted with algae and sponges due to high turbidity. While the site is not near any river mouth, the sustained sediment load potentially associated with resuspension from nearby reclamation activities.
Water temperature: 28’C - 30’C
Depth: 10-17m
All of records were taken during evening dives / after dusk. ·
