From editor or global species database
Distribution Claimed Arctic; Gulf of St. Lawrence to New Jersey; Alaska to Oregon; Japan, China, Indian Ocean. Such a wide distribution needs further examination. [details]
Identification E. viridis (L.) is a boreal species. According to Bonse et al. (1996), specimens obtained from the English Channel, Normandy, and also from Newcastle upon Tyne are referable to E. clavigera (Audouin & Milne-Edwards, 1833), but specimens from Denmark and Northern Germany were indeed Eulalia viridis. Obviously determinations to either species in these areas of possible overlap need to be made carefully. [details]
Synonymy As a consequence of the study of Bonse et al (1996), subjective synonyms from the Mediterranean area such as Eulalia (Eumida) microceros and Eulalia virens, or from NW France such as Phyllodoce gervillei and Eulalia brevisetis are doubtful and may instead be Eulalia clavigera or even independently valid, but re-evaluations of these taxa are not yet available [G.Read, Feb.2015] [details]Unreviewed
