Taxonomy This is erected as a trinomen (there has been no description of a Chalina digitata sensu Carter, 1882). As the combination Chalina digitata is preoccupied, we have chosen to solve the problem by subsuming the trinomen into a binomial species, Chalina arenosa (now: Haliclona arenosa, incertae sedis).
