Synonymy The variety was described from Perico Island, off the Pacific coast of Panama, Albatross Exped. Stat. 4626, 8.9167°N 79.525°W, shore collecting (dry syntype, but only a single specimen is registered as USNM 8364). As indicated in the note of the var. angustana, the varieties resemble each other sufficiently to consider them members of the same species. The present variety is a junior synonym of Geodia ataxastra Von Lendenfeld, 1910. [details]
