Identification Swartschewsky's (1905) record of Reniera ascidia Schmidt, 1870 is obviously erroneous. Schmidt's species occurs in deep water in the Gulf of Mexico and is condered an Oceanapia. Zaitsev (1993) mentioned the species again from the Black Sea as Haliclona ascidia (q.v.). [details]
