Taxonomic remark Heller (1865) described Nesippus crypturus
Wilson (1924) described Nesippus costatus
Lewis (1967) identified some specimens as "Nessipus costatus?" and described them
Cressey (1967) synonymized Nesippus costatus with Nesippus crypturus (and also synonymized Nesippus gracilis and Nesippus occultus with Nesippus crypturus)
Tang, Benz, and Nagasawa (2012) described the "Nessipus costatus?" specimens of Lewis (1967) as a new species Amaterasia lewisi

Therefore Nesippus costatus, Nesippus gracilis, and Nesippus occultus are all synonyms of Nesippus crypturus.

But Nessipus costatus is NOT a synonym of Amaterasia lewisi. It is only the “Nesippus costatus?” of Lewis (1967) that is a synonym of Amaterasia lewisi, but there is no way to put that specific kind of synonymy into WoRMS, so I included it as a note in the Lewis (1967) “additional source” citation under Nessipus costatus. I also listed Lewis (1967) under the Amaterasia lewisi record since that species is based on Lewis’s description of what he called “Nessipus costatus?”. [details]

Taxonomy was considered a synonym of Nesippus crypturus but Tang et al 2012 put it as A. lewisi
