The genus diagnosis was amended by Ocaña & Çinar (2018) to accommodate . In this rediagnosis, they ascribe the family to Halcampoididae, rather than Halcampidae without comment. Diagnosis in Ocaña & Çinar (2018): "Family Halcampoididae [sic] with cuticle covered with small papillae; tentacles with protuberances (swellings); extended diffuse retractor occupying most of mesentery. Incubation of young specimens inside coelenteron possible in some species."
