Nomenclature Euspongia irregularis Von Lendenfeld, 1886 was subdivided by Von Lendenfeld in many varieties without indication of the typical variety. Van Soest (2024) proposed E.i. var. silicata Von Lendenfeld, 1886 as the nominotypical variety which has to be renamed as E.i. var. irregularis. The variety is a junior synonym of Spongia (Spongia) hispida Lamarck, 1814. [details]
