Ocaña and den Hartog synonymized Aiptasiogeton pellucidus with Aiptasiogeton hyalinus. The synonymy was not discussed beyond the listing of Aiptasiogeton pellucidus and the names subsumed within it in the synonymy list for Aiptasiogeton hyalinus. This has since been used as the valid name for the taxon (see Grajales & Rodriguez, 2016).
