Status Hissmann (2020) appears to consider Lanice marionensis Branch, 1998 as a synonym of L flabellum (Baird). If true then L flabellum is the senior name. Branch appeared not to know that Marion Island and Baird's Narcon Island locality are likely the same place, and regarded L. flabellum as an indeterminate species name. On probability the two names likely apply to the same species. [details]
