Synonymy Thanks to Andreu Santin Muriel for pointing out that the publication date for this synonymized genus (1897) is the same as that for the senior name Axinyssa, so it is not certain that the present genus name is the junior name of both synonyms. Since Astromimus has been used only for its type species and this species is a junior synonym for an earlier named species, leaving both the genus name and its type species name unused, it is largely unused. If at a future occasion the exact publication dates for both synonyms would result in the present name being the senior name of the two then we would invoke ICZN art. 23.9 (reversal in precedence) to suppress the present name. Regardless of the outcome, the present name will remain an unused junior synonym of Axinyssa. [details]
